T & A
T & A is a series that brings together paintings that emerge from Laura Roosevelt’s instinct for experimentation and discovery. Unlike works that develop within a clearly defined thematic structure, the paintings in this series grow from moments of exploration—where color, gesture, texture, and form lead the process.
In these works, Roosevelt allows intuition to guide the composition. Layers of paint, bold movement, and shifting forms create visual environments that feel spontaneous yet deeply considered. Each piece stands on its own, reflecting a moment in the artist’s evolving practice.
Some works emphasize physical gesture and the tactile qualities of paint. Others explore rhythm through repeating lines, flowing shapes, or the interaction of contrasting colors. The surfaces often reveal the process of their making—scraping, layering, and reworking—allowing the viewer to witness the energy of the artist’s hand.
While the paintings may differ in subject and structure, they share a common spirit: curiosity and freedom. The series becomes a space where Roosevelt can follow unexpected ideas, test new materials, and explore visual relationships without the boundaries of a single narrative.
In this way T & A represents an essential part of Roosevelt’s artistic practice. It is the place where experimentation lives, where new directions begin, and where the language of her painting continues to evolve.
