TOUCHING COLORS

Touching Colors began during a period of profound transition and deepened Roosevelt’s commitment to surrender within process. These paintings incorporate soils collected from places that marked her life, allowing geography, memory, and material to converge.

Each layer responds to the last, embedding time, movement, and encounter into the surface. Touch operates on multiple levels: hand to paint, paint to earth, earth to memory. The work becomes a record of accumulation and attentiveness, documenting what unfolds when intention and accident are allowed to coexist.
